Elizabeth Farrelly presents a love song to her home city of Sydney and an impassioned plea for its protection in her book Killing Sydney: The Fight for a City’s Soul.
Sydney, now made up of ‘motorways, McMansions and mediocrity’, is undergoing great change. Its soaring civic buildings, unique public spaces and heritage buildings are under threat to the housing crisis and urban development.
Killing Sydney challenges us to protect Sydney and create a green, beautiful, affordable and accessible heritage city.
Dr Elizabeth Farrelly is an author, Walkley-shortlisted journalist and columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald. She trained in architecture and philosophy, holds a PhD in urbanism from the University of Sydney, and served as a Councillor for the City of Sydney.
